The Causes And Preventatives Of Infertility
Infertility is an extremely frustrating and upsetting thing to have to deal with, especially if you have been planning on having a baby in the near future and are suddenly told that it’ll be a little while longer. The good news is that most cases of infertility are temporary and can be sorted out with the correct course of treatment, but because so few couples find out information on it, it can sound really scary.
There are numerous known causes of infertility these days because more people are experiencing it than ever before, at least to the knowledge of the medical profession. It can be difficult to access information dealing with both female and male causes and preventatives of infertility in the same place though purely and simply because there is so much information around that it can and will boggle your mind. The quick guides below should give you an idea of what you’re dealing with and how the problem can be solved.
Causes
The most common causes of infertility are as follows:
· Age – As women get older their fertility declines. Any woman over the age of 35 is considered to be at risk of infertility as a result and may need more medical help then younger women to be able to conceive.
· PCOS – Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is getting more common in women and can prevent ovulation or impede it so that it causes temporary infertility. This can be resolved with a change of lifestyle and medication
· STDs – Sexually Transmitted Diseases can cause infertility if they’re not treated in a timely manner. Antibiotics will usually clear up STDs, with the exception of HIV. This occurs in both men and women as a result of unprotected sex.
· Blocked Fallopian Tubes – This is a female cause of infertility that is usually caused by endometriosis or PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease). The endometriosis or PID should be treated first and then the tubes can also become unblocked as a result or via medical intervention.
· Low Sperm Count – This is a male problem and cannot easily be solved for a couple to conceive naturally. Unfortunately, the couple may have to go through IVF to conceive.
· Sterilization – If a woman or man has previously been sterilized (a vasectomy in a man’s case), then the process can be reversed but it may result in permanent infertility.
Preventatives
Some of the above can’t be helped but paying attention to your general health can prevent others. For example, if you practice safe sex with a condom with your partner before deciding to get pregnant and are tested regularly then the likelihood is that you will not be infertile for that reason.
PID, endometriosis and PCOS all have tell tale symptoms so you might be able to figure out whether you have them and go to a doctor to raise your suspicions. Taking care of your general health is a must if you are planning to start trying for a baby so you could save valuable time and effort by getting any issues sorted out in advance.
