First Signs of Pregnancy.
An Introduction To Pregnancy Signs
If you’ve been trying for a baby then the likelihood is that you’ll have your eyes peeled for any early signs of pregnancy. Well, there are more than enough to look for! Some mistakenly believe that a missed period and morning sickness are the only signs, but far from it. Whilst very few women exhibit all of the pregnancy signs there are, over 95% of all women display at least one of them. Those will believe that the 5% are the lucky ones!
Pregnancy signs usually develop within the first month or so of pregnancy if they’re going to develop at all. Some mothers-to-be may have some of the typical signs within the first week. Some of the pregnancy signs are ignored and attributed to something else, which is largely because some of them are quite common (headaches, backache etc). This is why you should take the time to find out about the different signs.
If you have been sexually active at all and have any of the following possible pregnancy signs then you should take a pregnancy test:
· A little cramping and some spots of blood may occur. This is a result of the implantation of the embryo into the uterus wall.
· A missed period. This is the most well known sign and also the most common because the vast majority of women experience this.
· Tiredness for no apparent reason.
· Tender or swollen breast. This is often uncomfortable but is also routinely ignored.
· Morning sickness, which could possibly be nausea, vomiting or a combination of the two.
· Backache, especially lower backache.
· Headaches.
· Going to the toilet more regularly. Frequent urination is common but again is often ignored.
· The areolas (the area around the nipples) may darken slightly.
· Cravings for certain foods.
Before going into detail on the number and nature of pregnancy signs, it’s important to point out that looking for pregnancy signs can be fatal for any women trying to conceive. Many women see signs that just aren’t there or can be explained away by other factors. For example, you could mistake a simple stomach bug for morning sickness. It is easier said than done but just relax. When the time has come, you’ll know!
